There is an abundance of moving traffic violations that drivers encounter on a daily basis. These laws exist as a way to protect drivers and pedestrians on the road from being injured. As expected, violations of these laws occur on a regular basis. Some of these violations are seen as a bigger problem than others. If you are speeding down a highway weaving in and out of traffic, chances are you are going to be hit with a hefty fine and possibly have our license suspended. This will especially be the case if you are obnoxious when you are pulled over. Other violations are not seen as being so serious. One of these minor offenses is driving under the speed limit.

Many times people are driving under the speed limit for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the driver is a novice or an older individual who is being extra cautious. Maybe they are tired and they do not want to risk getting into an accident. Perhaps the individual thinks they are driving the speed limit, but the car’s speedometer is inaccurate.

Fines and Penalties

Driving under the speed limit is a minor offense. Therefore, the fines for this violation are very small. You may be fined anywhere from $25 to $50 dollars for an offense. Keep in mind that repeat offenders may be charged more than first time offenders. Fines and points could be a factor for some people who are pulled over for this offense. If you know that you are driving under the speed limit and you act as if you do not care, you may be fined by the officer who pulls you over. If you agitate him or her enough, and you are a repeat offender, you might also have a point added to your license.

Points and Impact on Driving Record/License

Points may be added to your license, if you are rude to the officer who fines you. These fines could lead to higher insurance rates. Do your best to be polite and logical with any law enforcement professional, when in this position.

Hiring a Lawyer to Defend a Speed under Minimum Violation

You may want to consider hiring a lawyer to represent you in court if you think that you have been mistreated. You might think that you were fined too much or that you should not have had points added to your license.
