When driving on a highway, one can be faced with a massive amount of traffic. This traffic can lead to delaying arrival times for many drivers and possibly car accidents. To cut down on this traffic, cars that are going to be driving at a faster pace are supposed to drive in the left lane. This faster pace is initiated only the drivers in the left lane can pass those in the right lane. It is not meant to be an excuse for drivers to speed past one another and break the law. If you are holding up the passing lane, with your slow driving, you may be fined a certain amount of money.

Even though this is considered a minor offense, when it comes to moving traffic law, you may be fined up to $200. You may be charged less than that, but $200 is usually the maximum. Many police officers will let you go with a warning because they might understand that you were not aware of your slow speed. Traffic points usually will not apply to this offense because it is not considered a major offense.
