Yield Right-of-way

There is an old saying about obnoxious drivers - "They think they own the road." The truth is there are many times when we have to yield right-of-way to someone. For example, you are approaching a crosswalk. A sign before the crosswalk says, "Yield to pedestrians." If you ignore the sign and nearly run someone over, you could get a ticket. You can't get very far without encountering some situation where you will have to yield. If you are merging onto an interstate from an exit, you will likely see a yield sign. Many traffic lights have signs that say "left turn yield on green." You would be wise to yield to these signs. If you are caught failing to yield right-of-way, you will have to pay hefty fines. And if you live in a state that has the points system, you will add some points to your driver's license. Get too many points on your license and your driving privileges could be suspended or revoked.
