A traffic court lawyer is an attorney who specializes in matters having to do with transportation. This can include any number of things, although most traffic court lawyers handle accidents on behalf of one of the multiple parties involved. Depending upon which side they take, the traffic court lawyer will either striver to get the plaintiff as large a settlement as possible, or attempt to explain why the defendant should not be held liable—if only to a certain degree. Other traffic court lawyers handle cases where a person was given a ticket by a policeman for speeding, not wearing a seat belt, not yielding to oncoming traffic, not using a turn signal, etc. Given that many times the police officer issuing the ticket does not show up at the hearing, the traffic court lawyer is often able to clear his/her client of the violation.
