While many drivers are quick to come up with some sort of plausible excuse for speeding, there are some speeding ticket excuses that you simply should not attempt to offer, and which may cause you more trouble in the future. For instance, don't claim that you were speeding due to a family or medical emergency unless you truly were experiencing such an emergency at the time that you were pulled over for speeding. If you cannot produce any documentation from a hospital or doctor indicating that an emergency existed at the time, this sort of excuse is not likely to be very believable. Likewise, arguing that the police officer pulled you over just because he or she was being a jerk is not likely to be successful. Traffic court judges and court staff deal with police officers on a daily basis, and, as a result, are likely to have close or at least friendly relationships with them. Thus, giving the excuse that the police officer only gave you a ticket because he or she was out to get you is not likely to succeed.
