Speeding Ticket Defense

While some defenses to speeding tickets simply will not be successful, you may be able to raise a legitimate speeding ticket defense in some situations. First, you can simply raise the defense that you were not speeding at the time you were pulled over by the police officer. Other drivers who were in the area at the time of the traffic stop, your passenger, and other person with information about the incident may be able to testify that you were not exceeding the speed limit. Next, you may be able to raise a legitimate defense that the police officer confused your vehicle with a different vehicle, or that some barrier to the police officer's visibility caused him or her to wrongfully accuse you of speeding. In this circumstance, photographs and/or diagrams of the location of your alleged speeding incident, as well as the location of other vehicles and/or structures, may be helpful in backing up your claim.
