Speeding Ticket

You can receive a speeding ticket if you are driving in violation of state traffic laws regarding minimum and maximum speed limits. All states have laws regarding the speed at which you are legally allowed to operate a motor vehicle. Generally, there are two types of speed limit laws. First, there are those speed limit laws that set minimum and maximum speed limits for different roads and areas. For example, there typically will be different maximum speed limits for residential streets and state highways. Secondly, there are those speed limit laws that require you to drive at reasonable speeds, depending on the circumstances. For instance, while the speed limit on an Illinois highway might be 65 mph, it may not be reasonable to travel at a rate of 65 mph in the middle of a strong storm with high winds and torrential rains. You can receive a speeding ticket for violating either of the two types of speed limit laws.
