Right Of Way Agent

A right of way agent is a person who analyzes property and/or real estate in order to determine priority under right of way laws. A right of way agent may be a government employee, or an employee of a private company, such as a real estate title company. A right of way agent's job may be to examine whether a person has the right to own or use a certain piece or real estate, and/or to ensure compliance with applicable right of way laws. A right of way agent may perform a variety of functions related to right of way laws, depending on his or her employer and job description. In the case of a government employee, for example, a right of way agent may be responsible for providing government entities and landowners with information related to eminent domain actions, or situations in which the government takes property from landowners to use for necessary public purposes.
