Radar Speeding Ticket

In addition to traditional radar guns used to measure the speed of vehicles, law enforcement officials have increasingly turned to issuing speeding tickets on the basis of photo radar, or specialized cameras that use radar technology to capture speeding vehicles on tape. The benefit of photo radar, from law enforcement's perspective, is that it saves the time that each individual officer uses to pull over individual vehicles in order to issue a speeding ticket. The use of photo radar, then, results in the issuance of many more speeding tickets in a much shorter period of time. However, with any sort of technology, of course, there is the potential for errors. Since there is no police officer actually pulling over the allegedly speeding vehicle and checking the driver's identification, vehicle registration, and license plate, there is the possibility of misidentification, which can lead to speeding tickets being issued incorrectly. Plus, non-governmental employees tend to monitor and analyze the results of photo radar systems, which can lead to erroneously issued tickets.
