Georgia traffic tickets can be given for a wide range of offenses and are handled by the county court in which a ticket was issued. When you pay a ticket in Georgia, it is considered an admission of guilt, and if you plan on fighting the ticket, then you should not pay it. Judges in Georgia can also lower a ticket 3-5 miles per hour to get it under the 14 mile per hour mark, which is key in Georgia as anything less than 14 miles an hour is not reported to insurance companies. Both of these moves allow drivers to not suffer penalties at the hands of their insurance companies. Georgia does operate on a point system, and drivers with more points on their record do not enjoy these breaks and are in fact likely to be punished more severely for any traffic ticket they receive.
