Georgia Traffic Court

Georgia traffic court is tougher than most courts in dealing with traffic tickets and offenders. From fighting tickets to getting a court date delayed, Georgia's traffic courts are known to be tough on drivers. Georgia's traffic courts are one of the few in the US that do not allow for any type of driving school to plea down speeding offenses. Georgia traffic courts do have a special type of plea, however, that drivers can use once every five years, called nolo. This plea is still at the judge's discretion to accept, but can result in being fined for a ticket but not having it go on the driving record as such, and is primarily used to keep the incident from the insurance companies in order to protect a driver's insurance rates. Additionally, if a driver is doing under 14 over the speed limit, that penalty will result in a fine and 3 points from the traffic court, but will not be reported to the insurance companies. It is recommended that you save your nolo plea if you have a clean record and get this type of ticket. Apart from speeding tickets, Georgia's traffic courts handle most other traffic issues.
