Georgia Tailgating

Georgia tailgating law states that the driver doing the tailgating is responsible for any accidents. Tailgating is a dangerous form of reckless driving that leads to very preventable accidents and is a leading cause of multi-car pile-ups. Most tailgating occurs when a car is trying to force the car ahead of them to either move over or speed up, and the driver rides their vehicle very closely to the car ahead of them, which is a very dangerous maneuver, especially at high speeds. Often times a tailgater will flash their lights or beep their horn as well. Tailgating also results in many cases of road rage. There is no excuse for tailgating close to another driver, even if that driver is blocking a passing lane. Any driver who causes an accident with injuries due to their tailgating can be liable for criminal penalties and civil lawsuits.
