Florida Tailgating

Florida tailgating is a dangerous form of reckless driving that leads to very preventable accidents and is a leading cause of multi-car pile-ups. Most tailgating occurs when a car is trying to force the car ahead of them to either move over or speed up, and the driver rides their vehicle very closely to the car ahead of them, which is a very dangerous maneuver, especially at high speeds. Often times a tailgater will flash their lights or beep their horn as well. Tailgating also results in many cases of road rage. While it is true that slower vehicles are required to stay in the right lane on Interstates, which is not an excuse for tailgating. Any rear end accident is the fault of the tailgater no matter the situation, and a driver who has caused an accident with injuries due to tailgating can be liable for criminal penalties and civil lawsuits.
