Fastest Speeding Ticket

The fastest known speeding ticket ever given out in the US happened in 2003. It involved a driver participating in the illegal International cross-country race "Gumball 3000," which went from San Francisco to Miami that year. The driver was in a Swedish-built Koenigsegg CC8S, which at the time was the fastest legal streetcar in the US. The car was supposedly clocked going 242 miles per hour in a 75 mile per hour zone. The 242 miles per hour is the top speed the CC8S has been clocked at, and it was 167 miles over the posted speed limit. The driver was Arthur Chirkinian. He was arrested and his car was towed. His co-driver posted his bail and the impound fee for the car, which supposedly had its oil cap stolen while in custody. The story ends with Arthur supposedly then purchasing a VW Beetle simply for the oil cap, which fit his car, after which time he took off and supposedly caught up to the other racers in New Orleans.
