Fake parking tickets are one of the latest tools criminals are using to gain access to people's private information. A fake ticket can net the criminal your credit card or banking payment information, along with your social security number. Alternatively, a fake ticket could instruct you to send a cash payment to the criminal. Hackers have even started to use fake parking ticket frauds to hack into personal computers, install viruses, and spy ware. They accomplished this by issuing fake tickets that sent the victim to a website in order to gain information about their violation, only the website was fake and was in fact the launch site for the viruses and spy ware. If you get a ticket that seems odd, or are positive, you have done nothing wrong to warrant a ticket, then carefully examine the ticket and find the telephone number for the local parking violation bureau. If there is no number, simply take the ticket in person to the bureau to verify its legitimacy.
