The speed limit is a law, not a suggestion. Some drivers seem to think that they can follow the speed limit if they want to, or drive at any other "reasonable" speed. However, police could not issue a speeding ticket if speed limits were anything less than laws. If you want to save the average of $150 in fines that go with a speeding ticket, don't speed. If you do speed and get a ticket, immediately begin looking for a way to prepare a defense. The first step is always to treat the arresting officer with respect. He will remember you and your case all too clearly if you antagonize him. If you have a strong defense, make sure you have evidence to back it up. If you don't, and if this is a first offense, try to get the case dismissed with a warning.
