College Tailgating

Underage drinking is a growing problem in America today. It is estimated that 5,000 young people die every year from underage drinking. It is also estimated that the average age at which young people take their first drink is now down to 15. Unfortunately, many college activities do nothing to discourage this behavior. In fact, some actually exacerbate the problem. One of them is college tailgating parties. The "fun" can begin early and continue late into the night, after the game is over. That often leads to disorderly conduct and DUI charges for juveniles under the age of 21. In many cases, judges will assign these juvenile offenders to education classes on the consequences of drinking, and statistics show that those classes do make a difference.
