California Dmv Driving Record

On California roads and highways, statistics show that one person is killed every 2 ᄑ hours and one person is injured every 2 minutes due to traffic accidents. Hoping to cut those numbers, California DMV driving records now use a point system by which all traffic violations and accidents are tracked. The more infractions a person has, the higher his points total. The higher the point total, the more penalties he will face. The system assigns either one or two points, depending on the infraction. Most moving violations and minor accidents accrue one point. Two points are assigned for more serious violations, such as driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, leaving the scene of an accident, or reckless driving. Drivers who accumulate 4 points within a 12-month period can have their license suspended or revoked. Points remain on a person's record for a minimum of three years. In addition, those points are often used by insurance companies to determine a driver's insurance rates.
